All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Jodhpur is recognised as a “Centre of Excellence (COE) for Tribal Health” by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India. In order to address the health needs of the tribal people, a unique centre was conceptualized to holistically approach the health problems and devising a road map to address the gap using modern scientific tools. Therefore, a “Satellite centre for Tribal Health and Research (STHR)” was established at Janjati Bhavan Abu Road in collaboration with the Tribal Area Development (TAD) Department, Govt. of Rajasthan and MLV Tribal Research & Training Institute, Udaipur and was funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India.

Vision and objective:

  • The “Satellite centre for Tribal Health and Research (STHR)” is a unique initiative in the country with amalgamation of health care services and innovative research for tribal population in a participatory ecosystem whereby tribal people play significant role in navigating their own health issues as stakeholders.
  • The primary goal of STHR is to improve the overall health status of tribal population residing in the tribal sub plan (TSP) zone of an “aspirational” district Sirohi, Rajasthan by reinforcing existing healthcare services, spreading health education & health promotion for disease prevention. 

The Satellite Centre for Tribal Health and Research Initiative:

 

  • First of its kind in the country to provide health services & research activity dedicated to a tribal area, which is also an aspirational district, mentored and facilitated by the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences, Jodhpur.
  • Tribal-centric need-based research focuses on the health needs & the well-being of the locals.
  • A unique opportunity for training and exposure for healthcare workers to the health status of the tribal.
  • Quality healthcare services including primordial, primary & secondary care will be provided.
  • Active Data collection about health issues with actionable objectives
