Sensitization of Indigenous Healers
1. Allocation and Initiation: The indigenous healer is a trusted resource for health issues within the tribal community and serves as an important link between tribal patients and government healthcare services. After counselling, the healer identifies patients requiring medical attention and initiates a teleconsultation with the specialist at STHR.
2. Connection and Registration: Following the counselling, indigenous healers connect the patients to STHR. The healthcare providers from STHR record the patient’s demographic and clinical information through a secure digital platform. A unique patient identification (CR) number is generated to ensure accurate documentation and continuity of care. This registration process enables seamless access to teleconsultation services and supports efficient health record management.
3. Mediation: The indigenous healer, trained by STHR and familiar with the local language and culture, facilitates the teleconsultation by connecting the patient with a qualified physician and supporting effective communication. Based on the clinical assessment, the physician provides treatment, recommends follow-up care, or refers the patient to a higher-level healthcare facility when required. Returning patients can access follow-up consultations using their registered CR number or mobile number.
Capacity Building Programme, Hyderabad
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA), Government of India, organized National Capacity Building Programme for Tribal Healers on January 16-17, 2026, in Hyderabad, aimed at promoting inclusive and culturally rooted development for tribal communities. This initiative is groundbreaking as it seeks to formally acknowledge and empower tribal and indigenous healers, recognizing them as vital partners in the public health landscape.

Capacity Building Programme, Udaipur
In line with the “National Capacity Building Programme for Tribal Healers” organized by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA), Government of India, at Hyderabad on 16-17 January 2026, a one-day capacity building workshop for indigenous healers was organized by Satellite Centre for Tribal Health and Research (STHR) AIIMS Jodhpur on 06 February 2026 at Manikyalal Verma Tribal Research and Training Institute (MLV-TRI) Udaipur. The main objective of the workshop was to improve access to health services in tribal areas by integrating traditional medical knowledge with modern health system.

Reinforcement Training Programme, STHR
In a significant follow-up to the National Capacity Building Programme for Tribal Healers at Hyderabad organised by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA), Government of India, and foundational workshop at Manikyalal Verma Tribal Research and Training Institute (MLV-TRI) Udaipur; STHR AIIMS Jodhpur hosted a specialized Capacity Building & Reinforcement Training Programme at STHR, Abu Road. In this program indigenous healers from diverse tribal region of the Rajasthan – Banswara, Dungarpur, Pratapgarh, Sirohi and Udaipur, participated. This session specifically gathered indigenous healers who are already actively facilitating patient care through teleconsultation services.
The meetup served as a critical milestone, reinforcing the healer’s skills and highlighting their vital role as trusted community bridges connecting grassroots traditional knowledge with advanced modern medical facilities.
