Project DREAM Care is an exploratory study designed to harness the potential of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, or drones, in transforming healthcare delivery in tribal regions.
PROJECT OBJECTIVE
Pilot the feasibility of transport of medicines & samples between STHR Abu Road (hub) and tribal village (spoke).
PROJECT OUTCOME
80% reduction in delivery time (20 minutes time was taken by drone compared to 100 minutes taken by transporting through road) from STHR to Arunwa Village.
Efficient in sample transport and even cold chain is not required for many samples as time taken is quite less (20 minutes).
Drone is battery operated, so negligible carbon emission.
CONCLUSION
This pilot project DRonE Assisted Medical Care (DREAM Care), AIIMS Jodhpur: Quest for Last-mile delivery of healthcare using drone was a successful attempt in delivering medical goods & transporting samples from hard-to-reach tribal area of district Sirohi. Overall, the DREAM Care project using Drone is found to be innovative, safe, reliable, secure, and efficient transport of medical goods to inaccessible tribal areas of district Sirohi, Rajasthan.
